An effort to provide free meals to those in need

Several people impacted by the coronavirus received free emergency food kits on Friday as part of an effort to help those in need.

The recipients gathered at South Park Community Center to receive the kits, which were provided by Washington state, the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department and World Vision.

According to organizers, the free kits can feed a family of five for at least one week.

The groups provided enough kits to feed 100 families, and organizers hope to increase the number of kits they can provide in coming months.

"We've made some great connections and partnerships over the last few weeks with food supplies," said Tim Gaydos, executive director of Together Washington.
